Over the 7 years since the first edition of the textbook "Obstetrics" for students of obstetrics departments of medical schools (colleges), significant changes have occurred in the organization of obstetric care for Russian women. From the perspective of training midwives preparing for independent work, this was marked by the creation of the Order on the provision of obstetric-gynecological care (Order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 572), new sanitary norms and rules (SanPiN-2010), and most importantly - the establishment of a three-level system of obstetric care and regional perinatal centers, which radically changed the work of both doctors and midwives. The second edition covers these changes and the implemented technologies regulated by the mentioned documents. Special attention is paid to the work of midwives in rural obstetric stations, the network of which is expanding in the country due to the resumption of work and the establishment of new ones in recent years as the main institutions providing primary medical care, including obstetric care, to the rural population of the country. The textbook is compiled in accordance with the federal state educational standard "Obstetrics". Specialists who have studied and taught in secondary medical educational institutions, medical university professors, specialists from specialized research institutes, and organizers of obstetric care services of the Russian Federation were involved in the preparation of the publication. The textbook is intended for students of medical schools and colleges studying in the specialty "Obstetrics", and can also be useful for midwives and students of medical schools and colleges studying in other specialties. 2nd edition, revised and supplemented.
