Ivan Aleksandrovich Goncharov's novel "Oblomov" (1812-1891) has been considered one of the best examples of prose since its publication. It is a reflection on the Russian character with all its strengths and weaknesses, on the organization and disorganization of a person in society, on the choice of path and the results of such preference. The author does not aim to expose, criticize, or instruct. The philosophical meaning of the novel, the lyrical tone of the narrative, allowed the master of book illustration, German Alexeyevich Mazurin, to create his series of drawings. They are distinguished by extraordinary precision of details, attention to psychological gestures, and an almost magical lightness of composition.
