Olga Leonardovna Knipper-Chekhova (1868-1959) is one of the founders of the famous art theater, an outstanding actress, the embodiment of his best traditions. Maria Pavlovna Chekhova (1863-1957) is a collector and guardian of the archival heritage of her great brother, the creator of the house-museum in Yalta, managed to make him the center of the cultural life of Crimea and became his legendary figure during his lifetime. Their correspondence reflects historical events, and everyday cultural and household everyday life, changing along with the era. And what is essential, their life proceeds in close communication with outstanding contemporaries: Stanislavsky, Nemirovich-Danchenko, Meyerhold, Moskvin, Kachalov, Mikh. Chekhov, Bunin, Gorky, Bulgakov, Richter, etc. And of course, first of all - Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, whose personality constantly arises in the correspondence of the two closest people - wives and sisters
