The textbook provides information in a concise form about the organizational and legal aspects of psychiatry, characterizes all major mental disorders, reflects their diagnostic and social significance, treatment options, and recommended care measures. Psychopharmacological drugs are described in detail, including their safety, possible side effects, and the risk of dependence. It is emphasized that this group of drugs is widely used not only in psychiatric settings but also to assist patients with somatic and psychosomatic illnesses. Alongside the traditional nosological approach to describing disorders, the requirements of the 10th revision of the International Classification of Diseases are taken into account. The main provisions of the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases are considered for the first time. A separate chapter is dedicated to the tactics of a nurse in case of urgent life-threatening conditions. Descriptions of disorders are accompanied by practical examples. Self-assessment tasks with answer keys are provided.
