The book is devoted to the life and creative activity of an outstanding journalist, writer, Lieland Elizabeth Ivanovna Yakovkin (1884-1982) The narration is based on its perennial diary records and correspondence, memories of its contemporaries. After spending most of the life in Pyatigorsk, the heroine of the book turned out to be a witness and a participant in many important historical events of the twentieth century in the North Caucasus. The main thing about the life of E.I. Jacobina was the work for 13 years by the director of the Museum Domik Lermontov. Thanks to her fruitful efforts, the museum during this period became a literary, research and cultural center in the country. Museum staff led by E.I. Yakovkin managed to save Lermontov in the Terrible years of the Great Patriotic War. Inscribed were also evacuated in Pyatigorsk invacuated art collections of the Rostov Museum of Fine Arts.
