"The Gallic War Commentaries" is a work by Julius Caesar, consisting of eight books in which he described his conquest of Gaul in 58-50 BC in his characteristic precise, concise, and energetic style. The work also includes accounts of two crossings of the Rhine River and the landing in Britain. In addition to descriptions of campaigns and battles, Caesar provides a wealth of ethnographic and geographic details that remain interesting to this day.
