The monograph is devoted to the study of literary representation of a fashionable doll in Russian publications of the late XVIII - early XX centuries, focused on female education. Among significant topics are sewing and needlework, clothing culture and body control, fashionable education and future motherhood. The most fully register of gender topics is represented in numerous texts published in the format "notes", "diaries" and "correspondence" dolls. A variety of fiction literature dedicated to the game with a doll is adjacent to them. In the puppet "notes", as in all literature for girls, the role of the objective world is great: the status of life -determining and spiritually significant is given to the things and details of the toilet. Equally speaking are the outfit of the dolls, the shape of the body and the expression of her face. The proposed study of the subject -giving world in Russian literature for girls of the late XVIII - early XX centuries is the first experience in this area
