The book presents a full body of the texts of Guy Julia Caesar. The Latin term chosen by Caesar for the name of his books has a Commentarii designated "notes" or "notes for memory" and in the linguistic practice of the 1st century BC. e. He belonged to the memoir, and not to the actual historical literature. As a rule, this term was indicated by unprocessed diary notes, which usually formed the basis of another, whole and processed work.
Nevertheless, the "notes" of Caesar are subordinated to a single artistic plan and have many features indicating their stylistic decoration. The goal of "notes" was an attempt to prove the fair and even the forced nature of the wars that Caesar led. Caesar hoped to give his point of view more persuasiveness thanks to the vast actual material and turned in "notes" not so much to contemporaries as to descendants.
Caesar"s works have analogues in earlier Greek literature, where there was a separate genre - hupomnemata for notes of rulers and commanders. To the greatest extent "notes" Caesar are similar to the works of Xenophon (in particular, to "Anabasis"): the presentation is conducted from the third person, there is no preface, and the style is concise and simple, but thought out and exquisite.
For students of philosophical, political science, historical, philological, cultural specialties of universities and all interested in the history of the ancient world
