The short prose works of the great Dostoevsky are very diverse in style and manner - amusing and tragic, satirical and lyrical. "Notes from Underground" is one of Dostoevsky's most brilliant novellas, in which he once again addresses the issue of the "little man" crushed by the stone masses of St. Petersburg, but this time not in a lyrical form, but with ruthless satire. The deep and psychologically profound story "The Gentle Spirit" and the sad, poignant "The Boy at Christ's Christmas Tree." The witty, sarcastic "The Crocodile" and the ironic "The Eternal Husband." Dostoevsky did not spare the contemporary reality - he passed a merciless judgment on it, using all the numerous facets of his literary talent.
