"Notes on the Civil War, V. A. Antonova-Ovseenko, often quoted by researchers, were not reissued since the first exit to the light in 1924-1933. The first book is devoted to combat actions on the Don and in Ukraine, which deployed in November 1917 - March 1918, in the second volume describes the struggle of the Armed Forces of the Soviet South Republics against the Austro-German occupiers and the troops of the Central Rada in March - April 1918. The second book covers Events in Ukraine Starting from November 1918 and until June 1919. The third book covers the period from April ("More precisely, with the time of us, Odessa") until mid-June 1919, from the culmination point of military successes of Soviet Ukraine before its big failures in battles with Denikins and their allies.
"Notes" V. A. Antonova-Ovseenko is the nature of the memories of an active participant in events illustrated by a large number of historical documents, including official correspondence, operational and intelligence reports and other archival materials. As the Antonov-Ovseenko himself noted, the author will consider his task performed if his book serves as the basis and the impetus for further work on the study of the history of the civil war in Ukraine.
