The author of the collection Northern Etudes. Features of Arctic Architecture: history, traditions, perspectives is Ashot Genrikhovich Tatevosyan - architect, artist, sculptor and restorer, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts and the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. As the title that unites all five chapters of the collection, the researcher, professor of the Department of Arts and Design at the Murmansk Arctic University, chose the word 'etudes', which equally denotes both sketches of various spheres of life and cultural activities of the peoples of the Arctic and architectural projects with a history and perspective. In the five etude chapters, the author creates an objective picture of the region, including conducting a comparative analysis of the development of Arctic territories in Russia and abroad.
The materials of the publications serve as an additional teaching aid for students in the specialties of construction, architecture, design, and are also of interest to graduate students, researchers, specialists in the field of creative industries, museum affairs, employees of educational and cultural institutions, especially those professionally engaged in the Arctic region.
