Nonverbal communication. Theory, functions, language, and signs

Non-verbal communication is one of the most intriguing topics in a psychological study. Manifestation of emotions, view, changing tone and rhythm of voice, gestures, postures, interpersonal space, alternation of statements, etc. - All these are more or less explicit elements of research, which are arguing and do not always come to a single opinion of various scholars. Modern studies of the Communication Process gradually displacing the classic "linear" models with the abstraction of communication with the context in which it occurs. It comes to replace the ideas about interactivity, dialogue, pragmatism, linguistic actions, sociolinguistic codes, an intersubjectivity structure. It is the Ecological approach made it possible to take into account the complexity of the process of communicative interaction and explore it comprehensively and holistic, that is, taking into account the fact that non-verbal components perform the same tool function as words, and may be their substitutes
