The book is dedicated to the life and work of the world-renowned 19th-century traveler, the first explorer of Central Asia, Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky. Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky is a well-known figure. Biographical, popular science, and artistic books of considerable volume have been written about him, extensive articles and brief notes have been published, artistic, documentary, artistic-documentary, and animated films have been made about him. Heroic poems were dedicated to him, and he was made the hero of anecdotes and humorous ballads. The main focus of the book "Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky. A Journey Through Life" is on the personality of the scientist and explorer, his relationships with family, comrades, and companions on expeditions, colleagues in service. Publications about Przhevalsky as a scout, geopolitician, conquistador, and a follower of Shambhala are critically analyzed. Unknown episodes from the traveler's biography are described, including his participation in the Polish campaign and the Manchurian War. Numerous inaccuracies in Przhevalsky's biography are corrected. An attempt is made to assess his contribution to the development of military and civil science in Russia.
