Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900–1944) was a writer, poet, essayist, and professional aviator. His biography is full of incredible events and adventures. The literary legacy of the writer is not large in volume, but he is known worldwide as the author of poignant essays and the famous 'The Little Prince'. The book includes some of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's most famous works, whose characters fly through the endless expanses of the earth. The novel 'Night Flight' (1931) was awarded the 'Femina' literary prize. In 1932, the work was adapted into a film, and in 1939, composer Luigi Dallapiccola composed an opera based on it. Night and its conquest by humans are one of the main motifs of the book, in which a brave airmail pilot flies through the night sky of the South American continent. In 'Flight to Arras', once banned in France, where a collaborationist government was in power at the time, but having colossal success in other countries, evoking enthusiastic reviews and fierce attacks, the author invites readers on another flight - an unpredictable, deadly dangerous flight in the darkness of night, under intense fire - but at the same time thrilling, beneficial, and unforgettable. This book is about defeat and the people who endured it in the name of future victory.
