The monograph presents the results of research on the neo-Victorian novel of the late 1990s - early 2000s: it clarifies the reasons for contemporary English writers' turn to the aesthetics of Victorianism, Victorian culture, and literature, analyzes the reflection of key concepts and images-symbols of Victorianism, establishes the origin of the English neo-Victorian novel and describes its evolution, defines the content and scope of the concept 'neo-Victorian novel', determines the place of the neo-Victorian novel in the genre system of the historical novel and, finally, identifies the genre characteristics of the neo-Victorian novel of the late 1990s - early 2000s.
