Gregory Bateson (1904–1980) is an outstanding thinker of the 20th century, a philosopher, an ecologist, a cybernetic and a systemic theoretician who made a significant contribution to anthropology, psychiatry and communication theory. The discoveries and theories of Bateson formed the basis of such advanced areas as “systemic” family therapy and neurolinguistic programming (NLP).
The book “Reason and Nature” (1979), completed by Bateson shortly before his death, summarizes his efforts to create a new epistemology arising from cybernetics, genetics and theory of evolution. He believed that this epistemology should serve as the basis of the future synthetic science of the living, which he called the ecology of reason.
The publication is intended for a wide circle of readers who want to better understand the place of a person in a reasonable biosphere. Professionals - philosophers and methodologists of science, biologists, psychologists, specialists in the field of computer science and artificial intelligence will find a lot of interesting things in it
