For the first time, the book gives a detailed description of the appearance, biology, distribution and distinctive features of all 156 types of dragonflies (Odonata), known from the territory of the Russian Federation, based on the vast own data of the authors and the existing scientific literature. Each species is illustrated in nature with original photos of adults of both sexes, as well as options for intraspecific variability. Many facts that have become known recently have been published for the first time. Introduction introduces the reader to the structure, life cycle, lifestyle and classification of dragonflies. Details of the settled differences between similar species in combination with rich illustrative material and detailed introduction make it possible to determine dragonflies without using certain keys and in the absence of special knowledge.
The book combines the features of a popular atlas and scientific publication and fills out the spaces that exist in domestic literature in such a bright and attractive group of flying insects as dragonflies.
