More than 210 years have passed since the Patriotic War of 1812. Since then, the world has undergone drastic changes. People, their way of life, living conditions, views on economics and military art have changed. Science and technology have advanced, some states have disappeared, others have appeared on the map. It may seem that events from such a distant past may not be of interest to modern people. Can they teach us anything? Undoubtedly, they can! Napoleon Bonaparte was the greatest military leader of his time, his talent cannot be underestimated. But even more significant was the victory over him by Russian military leaders, officers, and ordinary soldiers. It was made possible thanks to the talent of the commanders and the unparalleled resilience of the soldiers and peasants who stood up to defend their Motherland. This book presents stories about the fates of the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, their memories, and notes on the war. Among them are M. Kutuzov, P. Bagration, M. Platov, D. Davydov, M. Miloradovich, F. Glinka, and others. The bravery and strength of character of these warriors should serve as an example for the behavior of present-day defenders of the Motherland. Compiled by: A.
