Readers are offered two analytical essays by Alfred Barkov: "Hamlet: Tragedy of Errors or Tragic Fate of the Author?" and "The Mystery of the 'Shakespeare' Persona: Christopher Marlowe or Roger Manners, Earl of Rutland?". The first one is dedicated to uncovering the internal structure of 'Hamlet' and the authorial intent of the person who signed their works under the pseudonym 'Shakespeare'. The second one aims to determine the identity of the person whose works were published under the pseudonym 'Shakespeare'. There are about sixty 'contenders' for this position, each with their own supporters, and each of them is convinced that only 'their' 'candidate' is the true 'Shakespeare'. Alfred Nikolaevich Barkov is a literary critic, the creator of the original 'Menippean theory', and the author of fundamental works on the works of Shakespeare, Pushkin, and Bulgakov.
