The author of the book of memoirs - academician Vladimir Alekseevich Vinogradov - devoted his whole life to the service of science. Member of the Great Patriotic War, after graduating from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in August 1948 he began to work in the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, worked in various positions in the apparatus of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences under the leadership of prominent presidents: Academicians S.I. Vavilov , A.N. Nesmeyanova and M.V. Keldysh, who had a great influence on his formation as a person. V.A. Vinogradov is known not only as a talented organizer of science, but also as a major scientist who made a great contribution to the development of domestic economic thought. His scientific research is devoted to the problems of economic history, primarily property issues. From 1972 to 1998, V.A. Vinogradov headed the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (INION RAS) Under his leadership, the institute became one of the leading scientific and information centers not only of national, but also of international significance. On his life path V.A. Vinogradov was lucky to meet many interesting people. With his direct participation, the international authority of the USSR Academy of Sciences took place. The fateful moments of Russian history, reflected in the book through the prism of the author’s personal perception, cannot but attract the attention of the Russian public.
