"My radio is a book of memories of a wonderful radio engineer Emil Grigorievich Vernik. From the middle of the last century, each urban apartment on the huge expanses of the USSR was equipped with a radio button. According to three programs, news, concerts "at the requests of radio listeners" were transmitted, there were production, children"s, literary and scientific programs, theatrical performances and classical music were broadcast. That is why the names of radio leaders, speakers, readers, radio engineers imprinted in the consciousness of millions of people, becoming part of their lives. And Emil Vernik himself, and those who remember others (Oleg Efremov, Vera Maretskaya, Tatyana Doronin, Innokenty Smoktunovsky, Oleg Tabakov, Andrei Mironov, Yuri Bogatyrev and others), became the property of several generations of collective memory. Vernik says not only about working on the radio, but also about pre-war childhood, evacuation, about the history of his family, children and friends. A feature of this book is the history of its creation: Emil Grigorievich "said" text on a tape recorder, thanks to which the inimitable intonation of the narrator itself has been preserved
