"Stabat Mater" is a medieval sequence consisting of two parts: the first is dedicated to the suffering of the Virgin Mary before the crucifix, the second is the sinner’s prayer addressed to her. Among the most famous works written on the text of this sequence - "Stabat Mater" A. Vivaldi, J. Pergolets, A. Dvorzhak, F. Pulenka.
Igor Vorobyov offers a modern interpretation of the genre. Its cantata "stabat mater" for soprano, Mezzo-soprano, female choir and chamber orchestra (consisting of flute, drums, harp, piano, organ and six smuggles) was written in 2010. The premiere took place in the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under the leadership of the author.
A real musical publication is the author’s arrangement of cantata for soloists, choir and piano. The work will be interesting for women"s choral groups of music schools and universities
