Emmanuel Shabrist (1841-1894) is an extremely interesting, but forgotten figure in world musical culture. The composer’s work had a significant impact on M. Ravel, F. Pulenka, R. Strauss, I.F. Stravinsky and many others. Shabrist is rightfully considered the ancestor of the satirical Chanson. Preaching humorous images, the composer weaves into the melody of vocal miniatures elements of peasant, children"s, Parisian street song.
