The collection was compiled based on the materials of the expeditions of the Moscow Conservatory in the border regions of the Altai Territory and the Kazakh SSR in 1978-80. Old Believers live in these areas, looking for legendary Belovodye here. The collection includes the brightest samples of songs, which have now gone from folklore practice. The collection will be interesting to both teachers and composers and connoisseurs of Russian folk music
