Sohor Arnold Naumovich (1924-1977) - musicologist and music critic. Since 1971, he headed the sociology of the art and aesthetics of the Russian Institute of History, taught at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (since 1970 - professor)
Despite the fact that the author was not engaged in conducting empirical research, he should be called the first domestic musicologist who turned to the sociology of music and contributed to the rehabilitation of this discipline after 1920-30.
