The chamber vocal music of Alexander Konstantinovich Glazunov (1865-1936) occupies a relatively modest place in his work, dedicated mainly to symphonic and chamber-instrumental genres. Among the romances published, there are undoubted masterpieces, for example, the “Bacchic Song” for Pushkin’s poems. His vocal works written in his youth have long remained unknown. The People"s Artist of Russia, the singer K. Plugnikov found manuscripts of the composer"s early vocal works in the Russian National Library and the Library of the St. Petersburg Conservatory. The present edition presents four early romances of Glazunov of 1880 and 1882 of the essays on poems by Pushkin, Shakespeare, Heine.
