Muse, where is the mug? - A beautifully illustrated guide to world history of alcohol and literature.
The authors of the book, the artists Greg Clark and Monti Boshamp, looked into the glasses of famous writers and found out what kind of alcohol the famous masters drank and how alcohol influenced their lives and creativity. The authors explore literary drinking culture, analyzing the diaries of writers, their letters and, of course, works.
Each chapter is devoted to a certain type of alcoholic drink: you will find the story of beer, wine, absinthe, gin, whiskey, vodka, rum and tequila. A review of the literary heritage of those authors who resorted to alcohol in search of inspiration or sang it in their works is historically wide and diverse - from Omar Hayyam"s poems and William Shakespeare"s plays to works by Stephen King and Venedikt Erofeev.
In addition to many biographical facts and literary jokes, this book also contains recipes for the favorite drinks of writers, for example, mint Julem from William Folkner, the famous daykiri Hemingway or the favorite cocktail of Trumen Capote Sprinkle
