Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (1818-1883) was a playwright, a classic of Russian literature, known not only in Russia but far beyond its borders. His works had a great influence on the development of Russian and European novels, and his contribution to world literature is hard to overestimate.
The collection includes four stories by I. S. Turgenev from the famous cycle "Notes of a Hunter": "The Hamlet and Kalinych", "Bezhin Meadow", "Biryuk", and "The Singers", as well as one of the most touching stories in Russian literature - "Mumu".
All these works are included in the mandatory and extracurricular reading programs in schools and are published without abridgment.
Illustrations by V. Muryshova are published for the first time.
