The ancient city of Mozhaisk is only two hours from Moscow. This typical town of Moscow Region is a contemporary of the ancient times of Rus", a city with a rich and often mysterious history. It is first mentioned in the annals back in 1231, there was a very special veneration of Nicholas the Wonderworker, and, according to local historians, Mozhaisk was - no more - the sacred city of the Russian, a kind of Mecca of the Orthodox. Visiting Mozhaisk, it makes sense to drive another 12 kilometers to Borodin and go to the places of combat glory of the two domestic wars. The Battle of Borodino is the most bloody in history among one -day battles. All 110 square kilometers of Borodin"s fields are a museum-reserve. There are many monuments to the war of 1812 on these fields, and each is dedicated to a separate military unit that fought here
