Vasily Pavlovich Aksyonov is a recognized classic and a cult figure of Russian literature. His works are well known not only in Russia but also abroad. Success came to Aksyonov in the 1960s when, responding with brilliant prose to the most complex and relevant topics, he remained the voice of his generation for decades. Among the works beloved by readers of Aksyonov are the trilogy "Moscow Saga," written in the early 1990s and adapted into a film in 2004. The trilogy consists of the novels "Winter Generation," "War and Prison," and "Prison and Peace." Their action covers perhaps the most terrifying period in Russian history of the 20th century - from the early 1920s to the early 1950s. On a warm evening in 1925, the entire Gradov family gathered at the professor's dacha in Serebryany Bor - this is how the story begins about three generations of this family who are to go through all the circles of the Stalinist era hell: the struggle against Trotskyism, collectivization, camps, war against fascism, post-war repressions.
