What would happen to our capital if the radical plan for restructuring the city 'New Moscow', developed by architect Alexey Viktorovich Shchusev, were to be realized? How would Moscow change? Some buildings would have to be demolished, while others would definitely be preserved. Undoubtedly, new buildings would emerge, some of which would be constructed based on Shchusev's designs. It is hard to imagine present-day Moscow without his buildings. They not only adorned the city but also influenced its appearance: Kazansky railway station, Marfo-Mariinsky Convent, Hotel 'Moscow', Narkomzem House, Lenin's Mausoleum, residential buildings near the Bolshoi Theatre and the Moscow Art Theatre, for academics and scientists, as well as the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge, Kalanchevsky overpass, and the metro station 'Komsomolskaya-Koltsevaya'. This is far from a complete list of the outstanding architect's creations in Moscow, who will celebrate his 150th birthday in 2023.
