This book was written by the long-time author of the 'NLO' publishing house, writer and journalist Andrey Shary, together with his older sister, Moscow philologist Olga Podkolzina. There are reasons for such co-authorship: as children, Olga and Andrey moved to Moscow from the Far East, and when they grew up, they visited many European cities together, comparable to the Russian capital in various parameters. Striving to understand the hidden structure of life in a modern metropolis, in a collection of ironic essays, the authors sometimes draw risky but always interesting parallels between Moscow and other capitals of the Old World - Rome and Kiev, Berlin and Istanbul, Paris and Budapest, Belgrade and Prague. Is it necessary in the world of the 21st century to build a new system of cultural coordinates, or is it once and for all defined by social experience? 'Moscow Globe' is the development of a book project opened by 'NLO' in 2011 with Andrey Shary's essay collection 'Petersburg Globe'.
