Mikhail Bulgakov (1891–1940) is one of the most prominent Russian writers of the first half of the 20th century. His novels and stories such as 'The White Guard', 'The Master and Margarita', and 'Heart of a Dog' have become classics, translated into many languages, and adapted for the screen multiple times in Russia and abroad. This book includes the early story cycles of Mikhail Bulgakov, 'Notes of a Young Doctor' and 'Notes on Cuffs', as well as the story 'Morphine'. They are based on the author's personal experiences, as he worked as a rural doctor, theater director, and humorist in his youth. Bulgakov portrays the development of the young hero's personality, overcoming his own imperfections, observing the surrounding life, and sometimes peering into the most secret corners of the human soul.
