The book of selected works of the prominent historian and the culturologist S.O. Shmidt combined work written for more than fifty years. These are the works on the history and culture of Russia of the XII-XVII centuries, the interaction of studies of the historical actual and in the genre of other humanities, on the receptions of the extraction of information on the culture of Russia from writing monuments, on the development of knowledge about the monuments of written culture and their source potential.
