During the years of the Primatial ministry of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, a great miracle of God occurred - the liberation of the Russian Orthodox Church from the captivity of godlessness. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Primate and his holy prayers, the people of our homeland drew closer to the life-giving source of faith in Holy Orthodoxy. A visible testimony to the fact that the light of Christ's truth shines once again on Russian soil was the revival of monastic life in the holy monasteries. The Moscow region has always been renowned for its holy sites and the feats of ascetic faith and piety. This book tells the story of how through the selfless diligence of the clergy, monks, and laypeople, the monasteries of our region literally rose from ruins, becoming beacons of salvation, houses of prayer, centers of spiritual enlightenment, and mercy. May the history of the monasteries described in this book, as well as the beautiful photographs reflecting the wonderful beauty and holy silence of the monastic communities surrounding the capital city, warm the heart of the reader, strengthening them in piety and helping them in their diligence towards every good work.
