The monograph in detail analyzes various hypotheses of molecular cell mechanisms for the development of neurodegenerative diseases - diseases of Alzheimer, Huntington and Parkinson. From the standpoint of neuroimmunoenocrinology - integral biomedical science - the prospects for using signal molecules synthesized in the central nervous system as biological markers to optimize intravital diagnostics and targeted therapy of these diseases are considered. The modern methodology for the study of molecular mechanisms of the death of neurons, which can be used to develop modern neuroprotective drugs, is described.
Particular attention is paid to the pioneer research of authors devoted to the use of tissues available for biopsy (blood lymphocytes and buccal epithelium) for intravital diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases.
