This edition is the first comprehensive textbook on the auditory mastering of contemporary music in both domestic and foreign practice. It selects and systematizes the typical difficulties of mastering the musical language of the 20th century (its modes, melodic structures, chord progressions, and rhythms). Special attention is paid to the issues of reading modern musical notation from sheet music. The author has developed special sets of intonation, rhythmic, and notational exercises, and has compiled corresponding examples from the music of 20th-century composers.
