The name of Menis Kumandareas is well known to readers of Greece and the world, primarily in France, in Italy, Spain, where his novels are widely published. One of the best Greek writers of the second post -war period. During the dictatorship of the Black Colonels, he participated in the underground edition of "18 texts", three times appeared before the court for "obscene publications". He was twice awarded the National Literary Prize - for the works "production of glass" and "twice Greek". Known as a translator of authors such as Lewis Carroll, Edgar Allan Poe, Ernest Hemingway, William Folkner, Francis Scott Fitzgerald. The writer"s works, invariably attracting dramatic situations, love conflicts and sharp conflicts, gained a new fate in the cinema, in television series, and theatrical stages.
