Mariastu happily lived in the circle of family, friends and girlfriends in a small village in West Africa. But then a civil war came to Sierra Leone. The rebels armed to the teeth attacked peaceful settlements, arranging a meaningless terror. During one of these raids, the twelve -year -old girl was chopped off the brushes of both hands - and the young fighters did this not older than her herself, stupefied by permissiveness and the false promises of corrupt leaders. Running away from the rebels through the forest, half -scribbled from pain, Mariastu was bleeding. But the sweet taste of mangoes - the first food after the attack, which the random encountered girl treated - revived her desire to survive
