A collection of paradoxical stories of Vitold Gombrovich (1904-1969) under the shameless name Virginity. Here, chaste erotica is combined with condescending cruelty, as if in the innocent chatter of unbelted youths. The method of the Polish writer is endless provocations that drive the reader into a corner, from which you can get out only after recognition of the most unpleasant truths. Gombrovich is drawn to philosophizing, although he is completely alien to all university philosophy. The writer does not feel any reverence for literature: he despises it as a pompous ritual and tries to turn inside out any of its norms
