The action of the novel takes place in modern Denmark, shortly after the earthquake. The main character is Casper Crohn, the world -famous circus clown, an avid poker player, a brilliant violinist and admirer I.S. Bach, endowed with an extraordinary hearing that allows him to “listen” to the surrounding people and hear the “tonality” of each person. The sound overload of the surrounding world makes Kasper constantly strive for silence - high, divine silence, almost disappeared from the world of people. At one of his performances, the clown notices a girl in the hall, emitting silence - the gift is akin to his own hearing. The searches for this “quiet girl” are engaged in the Casper, and in the end, as always with Hyoga, the serious suddenly turns funny, funny - serious - everything is completely different from what it seems at first glance
