The English writer George Orwell (real name Eric Arthur Blair) went down in the history of literature primarily as the author of the famous satirical tale-accurate “Cathedral Courtyard” (1945), where the events and consequences of the Russian revolution and the developing ideas of this tale were displayed in a parody-satirical form. The novel “1984” (1948, publ. 1949), which, along with “We” by E. Zamyatin and “The Beautiful New World” O. Huxley, became one of the main antiopia books of the twentieth century. However, along with artistic prose, significant - and no less interesting - part of Orwell"s creative heritage are journalistic and critical works. This collection includes selected articles, essays, notes and reviews of the writer, in which culture, science, art and literature are considered in close connection with political and social history
