The action of the new novel by Andrei Dmitriev - the famous Russian prose writer, a laureate of many literary awards - is happening in our time in Ukraine, where the hero of the novel, a school teacher, persecuted by his own fears and a combination of ridiculous circumstances, runs from Russia. Thanks to an accidental meeting, the hero’s second life begins there - a dramatic continuation of the first. Andrei Dmitriev is faithful to the literary tradition and will not deceive the expectations of those who have already appreciated his “Turn of the River”, “Closed Book”, “Road Back”, “Bay of Joy”, “Peasant and Tineeger”. But like every big master, he opens with each work from a new side. “This shore” is certainly a tragedy. But the tragedy created according to the laws of the comedy of errors.
