Christopher Taylor Buckley is an American writer and journalist who knows the political cuisine from the inside (speechwriter George Bush Sr. when he was vice president), the author of eleven books, most of which became bestsellers. Bacley brought the glory of Buckley, “Smoked”, published in 1994 and filmed in 2005. The hero of the novel Nick Nilor, the PR man of the tobacco lobby, skillfully and cynically fights with opponents of smoking, not paying attention to public indignation, he promotes the idea that smoking is almost harmless. Christopher Buckley in his interview said that he was interested in solving such a problem - to put a negative character in the center of the novel and try to look at the world around him with his eyes. Of particular piquancy to the novel is given by the appearance on its pages of world famous people, only in rare cases covered with transparent pseudonyms. Buckley"s work was repeatedly marked by various awards, in 2002 he received Washington Irving medal for literary skills
