The Theater Romance is a fascinating, at times funny, at times a sad and tragic story about the everyday life and the backstage life of the most famous Russian theater of the twentieth century - the Moscow Art Theater, as well as the fate of the writer and his manuscript. Who and what is not here! This is a kind of chronicle of the “ordeals” of the young author (in which Bulgakov himself and his play “Turbine Days”) in theatrical and artistic Moscow are easily guessed. Among the people he meets, many famous writers, theater figures and stars of the 1930s scene from Alexei Tolstoy, Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko to Olga Knipper-Chekhova and Valentin Kataeva. Do not be surprised, Bulgakov spoke very unpleasantly about all these celebrities - this is his alternative view of them, but he is more interesting.
