In the novel, two heroes are people from different eras of the life of Russian society: one - from the time of the Khrushchev thaw, the other from the Yeltsinsky 90s. Two temporary segments, spaced for almost thirty years, but similar to their sensations of future changes, anticipation of a close parish of freedom of thought and breathing. These two have never seen each other, but they are similar to their need for comprehension of the true meaning of human life, in an attempt to know the proportionality of the three Rozanov foundations: birth, pain, death.
