The novel by Vladimir Sorokin "The Thirty Love of Marina" was first published in 1995, although it was written ten years earlier, in 1982-1984, despite the fact that the action of the novel itself unfolds in 1983. The main character of the novel is thirty-year-old Marina Alekseeva, a typical representative of Bohemia 80 -kh, dissatisfied with the dissident regime, an failed pianist who teaches music in the House of Culture of one of the Moscow factories. Sorokin begins the narrative with the description of the past of Marina, including the description of her many love affairs. Despite a huge number of partners, both men and women, Marina is unhappy in love and unsuccessfully tries to find her place in this world. Suddenly, the secretary of the factory party committee, Sergei Rumyantsev, appears on her horizon, with whom he leads to an unexpected metamorphosis and changes her life abruptly
