The life of the protagonist of the novel by the field of Delrosis is shrouded in terrible secret. In childhood, his father was killed in front of the field, and the name of the killer for many years remained unknown. And only on the very day of the wedding of the protagonist of the veil of secrets is opened. Dramatic events take place, as a result of which Paul parted with his beloved wife. But in the future it turns out that Paul is following the false trail left by German intelligence.
In the first days of the First World War, Paul volunteer went to the front. He is fearless and smart, quickly progresses, but the military fate brings him to the epicenter of the fight against the machinations of German intelligence. It is in this battle that his incredible talent of the counterintelligence and amazing deductive abilities are manifested, as Sherlock Holmes himself would envy. The field manages to solve the carefully protected secrets of the German spies, thanks to his efforts, the German intelligence network in France is eliminated and even Kaiser Wilhelm II himself is forced to submit to the will of the young Frenchman.
The author of the novel is the classic of the French detective Maurice Leblan, the literary father of the most popular gentleman-robber Arsen Lupin. His new literary character - Paul Delrosis - could well become a popular hero of the whole series of novels and even overshadow the glory of Arsen Lupin. But Maurice Leblan did not develop this topic, and we can only guess, which made the author abandon such a promising idea
