Anthropologist Long Litt Vun, a native of Malaysia, living and working in Norway, combined in this book a story about her familiarization with mushrooms and the penetrating confession of a woman who lost her husband and forced to learn to live alone. Both parts of the text are autobiographical: the experience of sorrow and the search for asylum in the suddenly empty world led Long into the forest, prompting to ask about what attracts people to mushrooms, how the relations of the two kingdoms of wildlife are built, what are the laws of "quiet hunting", what pleasure it promises And what dangers are fraught with. The decision to go mushrooms ultimately led the author to acquire a new competence - now Long is a member of the Norwegian mycological association - and was crowned with a book in which juicy descriptions of forest walks, recipes from mushrooms and deep thoughts about the life of a modern person seeking surprisingly organically coexist. its place between civilization and nature
