In this book, attention is focused on various forms of diaries created in the Russian documentary literature of the twentieth century, related to the narrative genre with a special spatio-temporal organization of the text. Compared to memoirs, the diary represents a more reliable material, becoming not only a "personal document", but also a "document of history".
The four chapters of the book presented the diaries of children of different ages and representatives of different types of art - writers, actors, directors whose personalities are inscribed in the era, since they, pushing the boundaries of understanding Russian art, made it possible to understand the "unbearable reality" of the country"s life and individual person.
The view of each of the authors of the diaries is subjective, but this is precisely its value, since only the history of a person’s life, missed through his personal perception, becomes alive and reliable.
The book is addressed to philologists, philosophers, art historians, culturalists, historians, a wide circle of readers
